About us
Action4Youth is a charity that has operated in Buckinghamshire for over 70 years. Recently its work has expanded from supporting youth clubs to deliver structured programmes and activities for young people across not only Buckinghamshire but with schools across the region, in Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Oxfordshire.
There are three main strands to our work. All respond to the changing needs of young people and the world around them. In recent years our work in partnership with local authorities, schools and businesses has tackled knife crime, reduced antisocial behaviour, increased employability and included counselling.
Outdoor Education
Action4Youth has a dedicated outdoor education centre at The Caldecotte Xperience on the south side of Milton Keynes. Our experienced staff work with more than 25,000 children and young people of all abilities every year during residential and day visits.
Caldecotte is also a base for our Duke of Edinburgh Award Work and National Citizen Scheme.
Structured programmes supporting schools
The Inspiration Programme is Action4Youth’s flagship employability programme which runs in schools.
The Breakout Programme is a crime prevention programme targeted at those young people exhibiting the early signs of which too often lead to gang membership and crime, including knife crime.
Youth Work
Action4Youth has run the National Citizen Service across the area since its inception and thousands of 15 – 17 year olds have benefitted.
The Junction is Action4Youth’s youth centre in High Wycombe. It is open to all 12 – 18 year olds and is open 7 days a week from 4.00 pm – 9.00pm. The Junction offers a safe place with a wide range of recreational activities as well as organised session on a wide range of topics.
To meet the needs of young people, Action4Youth offers a free counselling service based in The Junction and mentoring services across most of Buckinghamshire.
