ACTION4YOUTH vs LOCKDOWN 2.0
November 5th - December 2nd
Action4Youth's new fundraising event
What will your challenge be?
The first lockdown was difficult for everyone, especially young people which led Action4Youth to create this virtual event to bring us all together.
The aim is to raise money by seeing how many miles we can go during lockdown 2.0. This doesn’t mean you need to lace up your running trainers and hit the tarmac, this could be a variety of activities that you, your friends and family can all take part in.
Why a virtual challenge
As restrictions stay in place a little longer than expected, this is the perfect chance to get out and about exercising as well as raising funds for a great cause.
What sort of activities can you do?
Anything!
- The average person takes 2,400 steps to walk a mile – therefore 10,000 steps a day is 5 miles a day and would result in 135 miles covered in lockdown.
- If cycling is your thing then the average person takes 3-4 minutes to cycle a mile.
- Skipping – 2000 jumps equals 1 mile.
- Weightlifting of any kind – 1,800 reps can be considered as 1 mile
- Stairclimbing –Climb 20 flights of stairs to reach 1 mile
- Dance a mile – 30 minutes of dancing
- Jump on the Wii Fit and play tennis or compete against your household
- You could even knit a mile…
