Free Mentoring Support Funded For Milton Keynes Young People

Action4Youth would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Councillor Shazna Muzammil for her generous support in funding free mentoring places for young people in Milton Keynes.

Through funding from her Ward Budget, several local young people aged 11 to 17 will now be able to access Action4Youth’s free 12-week, one-to-one mentoring programme. This early intervention support gives young people a safe, supportive space to talk, reflect and receive tailored guidance at a time when it can make a real difference.

Councillor Muzammil, member for Tattenhoe Ward, chose to direct part of her community budget to Action4Youth in recognition of the charity’s work supporting young people across Milton Keynes. Her funding will help more young people access vital mentoring, designed to build confidence, encourage positive choices and help them reach their full potential.

Speaking about the funding, Councillor Muzammil said one of the reasons she stood to serve as a councillor was to support young people and help create better opportunities for them. She spoke about the importance of early support in giving young people confidence, direction and belief in themselves, and said she hopes this funding helps young people access the right support at the right time.

As part of her involvement, Councillor Muzammil recently visited Action4Youth’s outdoor learning centre, The Caldecotte Xperience, where she met with the leadership team and saw more of the charity’s work first-hand. During the visit, she learned more about the range of programmes Action4Youth delivers across Milton Keynes, including holiday activities, a drop-in youth centre, an anti-knife and gang programme, and the year-long Inspiration Programme, which helps broaden horizons and raise aspirations in the classroom.

Benedicta Morrow, CEO of Action4Youth, said: “We are enormously grateful for this support. Our mentoring service provides young people with a safe, non-judgemental space to talk about their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Through guided reflection, our service offers them the support and encouragement to help them cope with a range of complex issues and make positive choices for their futures.”

This generous funding will have a meaningful impact, helping more young people in Milton Keynes feel heard, supported and better equipped for the future.
