Partnership Case Study

NHBC x Action4Youth -
Ensuring no young person is left behind

NHBC is a longstanding Action4Youth partner, backing targeted programmes and inclusive outdoor learning that help children and young people across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes feel safer, build life skills and move towards brighter outcomes.

Partnership Snapshot (2022 - 2026)

“Participating in initiatives like Caldecotte Experience isn’t just about giving back, it’s about showing a demonstrable culture of compassion and social responsibility.”

The challenge

Across our communities, some young people face barriers that can quickly escalate — from low confidence and limited aspiration through to behaviours that put them at risk of exclusion, anti-social behaviour or long-term disadvantage. Action4Youth exists so every young person has the chance to be heard, be safe and succeed.

What NHBC supported

1

Funding for programmes with measurable outcomes

2

Sponsorship that celebrates achievement

NHBC has sponsored Action4Youth events that recognise young people’s skills and achievements, including Big Night Out (2022 and 2023) and Big Challenge Lunch (2024 and 2025), with 120+ young people taking part at each Big Challenge Lunch.

3

Employee volunteering at The Caldecotte Xperience

NHBC teams have carried out numerous volunteer days at The Caldecotte Xperience, supporting practical tasks such as painting, gardening, cleaning boats and setting up facilities.

The centre benefits c.12,000 children and young people each year, including 2,000 with disabilities, with inclusive facilities and trained staff that enable whole groups to participate with dignity and comfort.

4

In-kind support that strengthens long-term delivery

NHBC colleagues have contributed strategic support via the Caldecotte capital appeal project board, supported business experiences for young people through The Inspiration Programme activities, entered teams in Caldecotte Xperience events, and taken part in The Milton Keynes Marathon over a number of years. They have also been proactive in organising a number of their own events and initiatives to include The Big Step and a football tournament.

The impact

NHBC’s partnership has helped Action4Youth deliver earlier intervention, stronger employability skills, and inclusive outdoor learning — with support spanning direct programme delivery, celebration moments, and behind-the-scenes volunteering that keeps spaces welcoming and ready for young people.
