Action4Youth News August 2023

This month we have been celebrating ‘broadening sights’ – we have enjoyed visits from local community leaders to our Caldecotte Xperience Centre in Milton Keynes including MP, Ben Everitt and Milton Keynes Cabinet member, Zoe Nolan; young people have continued to thrive on their residentials as part of the NCS programme and summer adventure clubs (Millie, 8 pictured before tackling The Postman’s Walk). The Junction and Inspiration Programme teams have taken some of our young people on exciting adventures broadening their horizons away from our regular venues.

Sharing Our Passion

We love sharing the work we do with key local members of our community. This month we have been lucky enough to show Zoe Nolan, Cabinet Member for Children and Families at Milton Keynes Council around The Caldecotte Xperience. Zoe spoke to almost every person on site that day and wasn’t afraid to get stuck in to some of the activities (pictured left) and commented;

“The Caldecotte Xperience provides a great space for all young people. It’s an amazing centre for schools throughout the year and the team really want every young person to shine and thrive. This can really make a difference to young lives.”

It was a great privilege to be paid a visit too, by Ben Everitt, local MP and his colleague, Liam Andrews. Jenifer, our CEO, gave them a tour of the centre (pictured below) and Ben shared his thoughts;

” It was a really interesting visit and lovely to see so many young people enjoying the activities.”

Thank you to our community members who take time out of their busy schedules to see the work we do and support our cause. We continue to strive to raise funds for our appeal to ensure the centre can support our youth for generations to come.

NCS continues to turn ‘No We Can’t’ into ‘Yes We Can!’

See what we have been up to at NCS this summer 2023

We have loved having our NCS students join us at Caldecotte this summer. With just two weeks left of school holidays, the summer programme has flown by! Young people have made memories to last a lifetime and nurtured relationships with team and others of their age group. The experience is all about emboldening young people and discovering their boundaries as they head into adulthood.

Things You May Have Missed…

Summer is always a busy time for Action4Youth as we are flooded with young people who are on school holidays. It is our favourite time of year as come rain or shine, the students we work with get to evolve their experiences.

The Junction team got to take a small group of students on the HAF programme on a boat trip, with thanks to Aylesbury Canal Society and Friends. The group got to navigate locks, work as a team, build their confidence and drive a canal boat! What a fun opportunity (pictured above). The Junction attendees also got to go on a summer visit to our outdoor education centre – ever popular they got to try out some of the activities.

Students from Northampton Academy enjoyed a visit to Climb Quest in Milton Keynes (seen below). As part of The Inspiration Programme, they challenged themselves whilst having fun at the same time.

With Thanks…

We couldn’t do what we do without all of our amazing partners, funders and sponsors. This month we give thanks to the NHBC team, who volunteered to paint our watersports centre.

Jenifer, our CEO, expressed “Massive thanks to the team from NHBC for doing a fantastic volunteering job in painting our watersports centre changing rooms. We really appreciate our partnership and the many facets of it, including valuable funding for our projects, sponsorship, volunteering, employee fundraising, as well as pro bono professional guidance and support. Thank you again from all of us at Action4Youth.”
