Autumn arrives in style

The Junction

It continues to be a busy time, with 1850 visits in September!  Throughout October our SEND young people have taken part in the A4Y 25K Challenge. Their contribution? Making 25 delicious cornflake and Rice Krispie cakes! While they didn’t quite make it to the selling stage (they were too tasty to resist!), it was a fantastic practice run to ensure the next batch will be even better and we’re confident we’ll complete the challenge in style!

BOOST! takes off in Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire

BOOST! has officially landed in several schools. Most recently, we wrapped up an exciting five week journey at Greys Education Centre in Bedfordshire, a brand-new partner for us.

The programme kicked off with adventures at The Caldecotte Xperience, where students tackled archery, canoeing, and climbing setting the tone for an adventurous and empowering experience.

Over the next three weeks, we brought the BOOST! spirit to the school grounds with a mix of hands-on and life-skill activities including smoothie making, street first aid, leadership skills, and even cooking a 3-course meal! The creativity and teamwork on display were inspiring.

We returned to The Caldecotte Xperience for the programme wrap up where young people took part in kayaking, bushcraft, and leap of faith. smoothie making and presenting which was a clear favourite among the group, showcasing their confidence, collaboration, and flair for innovation.

Thank you to Heart of Bucks for funding this opportunity.

All  of the feedback is so positive- a couple of the pupils only usually do half a  day but are more than happy to stay for the sessions. It’s been a long time  since some of these pupils have been this positive about something to do with  school.”

Meanwhile, at Stocklake Park Schoolin Aylesbury, BOOST! was adapted to meet the varied needs of their students. Sessions included street first aid, STEM activities, leadership, cooking. Students crafted vision boards to express their ambitions for the future.  Outdoor activities brought the programme to a memorable close, with students learning to use fire strikers to start a fire which was a powerful and practical skill they were proud to master.

We are grateful to Serco Foundation for funding this programmes.

BOOST! continues to grow and we’re excited to see the impact it’s having on young people. building confidence, resilience, and real-world skills that last a lifetime. Stay tuned for more stories.
